Triple Eight Race Engineering’s Scott Pye has claimed a magnificent win, taking out first place in Race 13 of the British Formula Ford Championship at the high-speed Silverstone circuit.

Pye started the race from pole position and, despite a wild battle with championship rival Scott Malvern, persevered to take the chequered flag by 2.5 seconds.

Race 14 of the Championship didn’t prove to be quite as lucrative with Pye pushed back into fourth position over the opening laps and denied the opportunity to defend due to a safety car incident.

However, he was able to gain lost ground in Race 15 of the Silverstone triple header and, although becoming air-borne after knocking tyres with Malvern, finished in second place to his team-mate Josh Hill.

“I am on target to gain the record number of wins in one season and I am pushing hard to bring the title home for Triple Eight,” Pye stated.

“I would have preferred to win all three races this weekend of course but as a racing driver I have to say that this weekend was a lot of fun and we’ve earned a whole bag of points,” he continued.

Following the weekends Rounds, the 20-year-old from Mount Gambier is currently placed second in the Championship on 332 points, just 38 points away from the lead.

Stepping onto the international scene only this year, the talented youngster has proven himself to be a dominant force in the Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain with an impressive seven victories to his name to date.

Triple Eight Race Engineering Australia Managing Director Roland Dane added, “We’re really pleased and impressed with the job that Scotty’s doing in the UK right now as well as being very proud of the recognition by the BRDC of his success this season by making him a part of their Rising Stars programme over there.”

Pye will be back in action with Triple Eight support in Round 16 and 17 at the Snetterton Circuit in Norfolk, England on August 29-30, 2010.
