Prodrive boss David Richards has warned V8 Supercars Australia not to change its winning formula too much
Talking in V8X Magazine Richards says, “One of the great things about this Championship that makes it so iconic is you do have these two distinct sides and I think that sets a wonderful, simplistic standard in the world of motorsport.
“To introduce a third brand, I question what the long-term outcome might be

personally i think leave it.red v blue, us dumb aussies couldnt remember another colour.
Ken | 10:29AM - March 12th 2010
I can understand V8SA going in this direction to increase the overall world appeal, but I think it will be at the expense of us locals in the long run. It will end up US (God forbid, the Red & Blue standing together) against THEM (those bloody imported jobs, the Black & the Silver).

Ah... Brian - love Red and Blue competition however I am an Aussie - I am not DUMB nor am I color blind.

Come on boys... don't be silly. You don't know my connection however very unbiased to Mr Cochrane's plan.
Open your eyes - sport is not just for you - it is for the interested - we need to roll with progression. If you want to personally pay for sponsorship - please do - I will watch your adds on the wide screen. Please be in real world.

hey guys who of you were on the hill Bathurst 77 meaning 1977 or maybe 1985 it was great , not only cars that raced around the mountain , but they beat or atleast gave thr red/blue cars a hurry up so those of you who can not remember ask your grandad or buy a dvd
Ken | 08:47AM - March 15th 2010
Come on girls......somehow I just can't see myself waving a black mercedes flag or wearing a silver BMW T Shirt. Lowndes in a Lexus, I don't think so. !!!

I think for the sake of the sports survival it needs to happen. Both Holden and Ford have said that at the current level the sport is unsustianable.

Have you ever watched the DTM series ??? I say Bring it on.
Jenny Hawes | 10:13AM - March 16th 2010
After listening to the radio yesterday, I heard a great comment. If they want to bring Mercedes in, make Mercedes pay for the Track Upgrade @ Barbagallo Raceway so that at least then ALL Aussies have a race in their states/territories, & it would keep us west aussies of the back of V8SA and not hold that much resentment for them. I think it would make a very interesting watch.
Pete.C | 01:27PM - March 16th 2010
Jenny.
The DTM series is the most watched and finacially backed form of touring car racing in Europe. Just like the Blue v Red two car series it has Merc v Audi both running the 4lt V8 producing over 460bhp. Highlights and complete races are broadcast on 1 HD. As for the funding and upgrade of Barbagallo you really should be looking at Mr T.Cockroach for that one.

Thanks Pete C. Us West Aussies are furious over not having the V8's here this year (if ever AGAIN). I don't think Mr COCKROACH would want to make it over to this state again unprotected. There are many after his blood.
I'll keep an eye out on 1 HD for the DTM series. My hubby & I were talking the other day about when it was Touring Cars Australia with all the different brands. Made a very interesting watch back then. People then certainly followed the drivers & not teams as much.
