Bad back to the days of 2 litre racing when overseas cars will dominate with huge budgets.

Heres a news flash for ya's; Ford and Holden will NOT be the only manufacturers racing by 2012. Look out for Mercedes and BMW 4lt V8s in the field.

Stig: I think it was going to happen soon than later. The series couldnt sustain it self in its current formate for much longer.

    Totally agree.......
and as much as I dont want a return or super tourers. I think some new blood will be a good thing................ only drama is sponsorship and trying to develop a following and there I think other manufacturers could struggle............. but then if they are "rich" off shore teams it may not matter........ I wonder though given the small size of the customer market for Australian cars whether any other manufacturer would find it worth their while

Stig: I have stated elsewhere that thier are over 25 manufacturer's that produce a V8 rear wheel drive of which 23 are on sale here. The ones they are talking about (Merc,BMW,Audi) all currently race in the DTM series using the 4ltr V8 producing over 460bhp. All of which are available here in Australia. I see it as a good thing to move on with technology. As for sponsorship ( Red Bull,Vodafone,Castle) and many other European sponsors would snap up on these Beast. Dont you think its a bit odd that T8 are already interested in changing brands in 2012 ??.

It could also leave the door open for some TRUE international drivers from many classes of motorsport in Europe.

It would be excelent as it would bring alot more money to the sport. But if they let foreign manafacturers in they should get rid of Australia out of V8 Supercars Australia. Aussie tracks are being excluded for foreign tracks and now the cars are as well. What's next V10s or V12s in the cars?

I think it would be super having brands like Merc and BMW it would bring a bigger viewing base to the sport and more fans plus the Merc would look fantastic

I thought the reason for the sport (Australian V8 Supercars) was to promote the vehicles as to which Australian's can relate to and also afford. Affordability is a big thing, What can you afford?
As a traddie, i couldn't see myself or my mates buying a BMW or MERC and rocking up at a building site with it, Allthough something to happen for the sport.
I think there looking at the wrong manufacturer's.
    Thats just my thoughts.

I've always loved the intense battles between the two manufacturers, Holden vs Ford, and personally to see V8Supercars bring in more manufacturers I reckon it'll never be the same, the V8 board ar too busy spending money to go overseas (and fair enough, i know it's business) but what about poor Barbagello, and when QLD raceway nearly got axed, it nearly broke my heart! I love the V8's and the old paperclip is the closet track to where I'm from. but one day I'll make it to the mountain! (I hope!!)
